MS Nurse PRO is working in partnership with Birmingham City University (based in the UK) to offer a virtual Flexible Work-based Learning Module to health professionals with an interest in MS.
This opportunity requires you to complete and pass Courses 1 to 5 of MS Nurse PRO in your preferred language. Moreover, you would then need to complete an additional written assignment which will be submitted to and graded by the Birmingham City University. On the successful completion of the assignment, you will be awarded 20 credits at either Bachelors or Masters degree level (dependent on which level you enroll on). You will have approximately 3 months from the start date of the course before your submission date.
Whilst the final submission must be in English, support will be given through MS Nurse PRO for you to write the assignment initially in your native language and then translate it into English prior to submission if that would be helpful.
You can choose to take the module at either Bachelors degree level (UK Level 6) or Masters degree level (UK Level 7), each requiring students to submit a piece of work reflecting how you will embed some aspects of your learning from MS Nurse PRO into your practice.
Next to the content provided by MS Nurse PRO, you will also benefit from 1:1 and group support via email and virtual meetings throughout the study period. This will ensure that you not only fully understand the content found on MS Nurse PRO but that you will also be able to apply the knowledge in your own practice. Next to that, the group support sessions will allow you to connect with other health professionals interested in helping people living with MS across Europe.

MS Nurse PRO hosted an information session to all those interested in applying for the Educational Grant on Thursday 24, 2022 from 14:30-15:30 CET on Zoom.

MS Nurse PRO is offering up to 10 grants to cover all the enrolment costs, virtual group and 1:1 support throughout the course and a certificate of completion. Moreover, students will have access to BCU resources/library etc. and support for the course and assignment via Moodle (online platform). The course will commence in April 2022 and will last for approximately three months. Students who fail or don’t submit their final assigment on their first attempt are granted a second attempt.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain credits towards a higher-level qualification whilst extending your knowledge of MS and improving the care you are able to deliver to people living with MS through your practice.

Number of credits
60 ECTS credits are the equivalent of a full year of study or work within the ECTS. In a standard academic year, these credits are usually broken down into several smaller modules. Page 77 of the ECTS user guide, states that one credit corresponds to 25 to 30 hours of work. As this opportunity is evaluated by the Birmingham City University and MS Nurse PRO to represent approximately 200 hours of work, this implies the opportunity represents between 6 and 8 European Credits.
International students already studying at a University or Higher Education facility
Should you wish to use the BCU credits as part of your study, a learning agreement should be agreed between yourself, your place of study and the BCU in advance of you taking this Flexible Work-based Learning Module. Once your application is accepted, our team will be supporting you in getting this paperwork settled. It is however, a good idea to already reach out to your place of study on this topic.
