New Course on Research in MS Nursing Practice

MS Nurse PRO is thrilled to announce that we launched a new course within our Advanced Programme. The course is supported by the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) and developed by our expert members of the Syllabus Committee.

Course 7: Research in MS Nursing Practice

This course gives nurses a clear understanding of the value of research, why it is important in MS nursing and how it can be implemented in clinical practice to improve patient outcomes. Upon completion, nurses will have a good understanding of the basic components of MS research, along with a clear idea of the different roles and responsibilities available in nursing research. The course also explains the importance of using evidence from research in the clinical context.

The launch of Course 7:
Research in MS Nursing Practice

The development of course 7 is supported by the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (EMTRIMS). It is a non-profit, independent, representative European-wide organisation that serves as Europe’s and the world’s largest professional organisation dedicated to the understanding and treatment of multiple sclerosis.

ECTRIMS hosts the world’s largest annual international conference devoted to basic and clinical research and care in multiple sclerosis. The Annual Congress offers a variety of educational sessions, plenary lectures, posters, and young investigator sessions, as well as meet-the-expert opportunities. This year, the 38th Congress of ECTRIMS took place on 26-28 October in Amsterdam where more than 8,700 participants from over 100 countries and more than 200 speakers attended. MS Nurse PRO was delighted to have hosted a session dedicated especially to the nurse community!

MS Nurse PRO hosted a session on MS treatment and research - the evolving role of the nurse addressing two very important aspects related to the ever-evolving roles of the MS Nurse. The session was chaired by Miguel Angel Robles Sanchez from Spain and Dominika Czarnota-Szałkowska from Poland.

The session touched on 3 main points:

  • The future perspectives of MS nursing from a neurologist view was given by Jörg Kraus (Member of the MS Nurse PRO Steering Committee and MS Nurse from Austria);
  • MS treatment and the evolving role of the nurse was presented by Piet Eelen (Chair of the MS Nurse PRO Steering Committee and MS Nurse from Belgium)
  • Research in MS nursing practice was introduced by Amy Perrin Ross (Member of the MS Nurse PRO Steering Committee and MS Nurse from the USA)

You can find the presentations here.
