World MS day took place on May 30th.
This year’s campaign focused on diagnosis, and advocated for early and accurate diagnosis for everyone with MS.
The campaign highlighted the global barriers that still exist with regards to diagnosing MS.
A report published by MS Australia found that people with MS still wait an average of almost four years from the onset of first symptoms to a formal diagnosis.
During this time, the disease continues to cause damage to the brain and spinal cord, leading to disability progression that’s unlikely to be reversed with current treatments.
