How MS Nurse PRO contributed to a succesful experience for nurses caring for PwMS at ECTRIMS 2024

" It has been an outstanding ECTRIMS Congress. The speakers delivered high-quality presentations, providing a comprehensive overview of the evidence regarding Brain Health (Nurses’ Session 1) and Self-Advocacy (Nurses’ Session 2).

They highlighted excellent research in each field and shared testimonials and case studies on these important topics.

Their contributions undoubtedly enhance and disseminate knowledge throughout the MS Nursing Community."

- Miguel Ángel Robles, co-chair of the Nurse sesssion II at ECTRIMS and member of the MS Nurse PRO Syllabus Committee

MS Nurse PRO joined ECTRIMS in several ways:

  2. Presenting an e-poster on the Workload Management of Nurses caring for PwMS
  3. Having a presence at the EMSP booth with a 'quiz' to learn about the results of our Workload Management Survey.

Presenting the e-poster on the Workload Management of Nurses caring for PwMS

Piet Eelen with poster at ECTRIMS2024

Our survey of nurses caring for PwMS shows the specialised tasks nurses perform in symptom management, treatment monitoring and educating the PwMS.

The survey also confirms that a caseload of in excess of 300 PwMS is common among MS Nurses.

Conclusions that can be drawn from the survey suggest that increasing the  number of nurse colleagues, increasing the availability of administrative support and access to psychological support for PwMS and increasing the ability to refer to a multidisciplinary care team can all contribute to enabling MS Nurses to focus on their specialised and essential tasks to support the wellbeing of all PwMS in their care.

Read more on the project and download the poster in this blogpost.
