Antibody

Naturally occurring proteins produced by the immune system in response to foreign substances (antigens). Once produced by the body, they recognise and bind to specific proteins (antigens) on bacteria, viruses, and toxins, to help the body fight disease; can be ‘binding’ or ‘neutralising’ antibodies (BAbs and NAbs, respectively). Antibodies can also be produced against ‘foreign’ proteins such as biologic therapies.
