Once again, MS Nurse PRO took an active role at ECTRIMS through multiple initiatives:
This year as well, MS Nurse PRO was able to organise the nurse sessions, choosing to highlight topics very much on the frontline of current challenges: health literacy & patient activation, and shared decision-making & digitalisation.
The first session, on health literacy and patient activation, was chaired by Collen Harris and Amy Perin Ross, and welcomed Francesco Pastore, Miguel Angel Robles Sanchez, and Emilio Cortegoso Lobato, as invited speakers. A key message of this session was how health literacy is a key determinant for patient activation, in that it empowers people with MS as it initiates within patients an increased ability to navigate healthcare systems and take control of their own clinical care pathway.
The second session was on shared decision-making and digitalisation. This session was chaired by Miguel Angel Robles Sanchez and Piet Eelen, and welcomed Noreen Barker, Christen Kutz en Stijn Denissen as invited speakers. The session revolved around the utmost importance of integrating more of the patient’s voice into the decision-making process, as evidence demonstrated gaps between patients' and doctors’ treatment goals. Moreover, the essential role of digital tools was strongly highlighted as enabling, among others, improved shared decision-making, a better understanding of treatment options, personalised care and, in general, better clinical outcomes for PwMS.
Access to the speakers' presentation slides will follow soon!
For the second time at ECTRIMS, we showcased our survey on the workload management of nurses. While we presented a digital poster last year, this year we made it to the printed poster session — our goal for next year: an oral presentation!
There, we had the chance to discuss our results with many attendees interested in our study.

At the EMSP booth, we had the opportunity to engage with many people interested in our mission, as well as those who are already part of the MS Nurse PRO community!
To all, thank you so much!
